The Mercedes-Benz G-Class (W463) is an iconic off-roader, but earlier model years often lack the everyday convenience of a modern Comfort Access / Keyless Entry system. Upgrade your daily driving experience with this comprehensive, step-by-step installation guide. Whether you are adding a modern keyless entry retrofit kit or upgrading your factory harness, this tutorial covers everything you need to know—from wire routing and handle module setup to final coding and testing.

How to Install Keyless Go Comfort Access on Mercedes-Benz W463 G-Class

  1. Replace the Door Handles: Remove the door panels and replace the original door handles. Route the wiring harnesses for the door handles and antennas through the door wiring grommets and connect them to the main wiring harness. The antennas must be installed on the rear doors.

  2. Install the Rear Door Antennas: For reliable and responsive keyless entry, install the antennas on both the left and right rear doors.

  3. Replace the KG Module: Replace the original factory KG module. Following the terminal wiring diagram, insert the main harness terminals into the correct positions in the KG module connector according to the corresponding door handles and antennas.

  4. Adjust the Door Handles: After replacing the door handles, adjust the distance between the screw head and the edge of each handle to 71 mm.

  5. Coding and Activation: Use the engineering software to complete the required coding and activate the Keyless Go Comfort Access system.

Remove the door panels and replace the original door handles. Secure the antenna wiring harness properly to prevent it from interfering with window operation or hanging loose inside the door.

For Mercedes-Benz G-Class models in the G-Series, if no factory antenna mounting position is available, secure the antenna to the door wiring harness.

The green arrows indicate the positions where the door trim panel should be carefully pried up for removal.

KG Module Location
Remove the four screws securing the trunk cover panel and take off the panel. The Comfort Access (KG) module is located in the marked area inside the box. Replace the original factory KG module with the new one.

Wiring Harness Connection Layout
The two main wiring harness cables are the same length. For easier installation and future maintenance, plug connectors are provided at the connection points between the main body harness and the door handles and antennas.
The wiring harnesses for the interior door handles and antennas must be routed through the door wiring grommets and connected to the corresponding connectors on the vehicle body harness.

Wiring Harness Connection Definitions:
According to the terminal wiring diagram, insert the main harness terminals into the correct positions in the KG module connector, corresponding to the door handles and antennas on all four doors.

Door Handle Button Adjustment:
After replacing the door handle, adjust the distance between the screw head and the edge of the handle to 71 mm.
